Do you find it hard to forgive the adults in your life who were supposed to protect you, but didn’t? Do you hold resentment against a whole class of people because you’ve been discriminated against? I’VE BEEN THERE. I KNOW. I’m Dr. Carron Silva, Your Forgiveness Guide. Friends,
In this powerful episode, we explore an alternative to traditional therapy that may just resonate more deeply than you expected. I’m joined by Adrian and Shae Misiak, graduates of the Catholic Psych Institute’s Mentorship Program — a model that blends psychology and faith in a revolutionary way.
Adrian and Shae share the story of their five-year marriage and their discovery of accompaniment through mentorship. We talk about what mentorship really looks like, how it differs from conventional therapy, and why this model could offer deeper, more sustainable healing for those feeling stuck or disillusioned with traditional paths. Whether you're just beginning your healing journey or you're seeking something more aligned with your faith, this conversation may open a new door for you.

Friends,
Have you ever wondered how to forgive someone when the memory of what they did still feels fresh? In this episode, I explore what it truly means to forgive what you can’t forget.
Drawing from the insightful forgiveness work of the late psychologist Dr. David Stoop and his book Forgiving What You’ll Never Forget, I share personal stories from my own healing journey through trauma, faith, and forgiveness. Together, we’ll unpack why forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting, how to release resentment without denying your pain, and how genuine forgiveness can bring peace even when the memories remain.
Whether you’re navigating betrayal, abuse, or deep personal loss, this conversation offers practical insight and emotional guidance for anyone ready to move from hurt toward healing.
If you’ve struggled to forgive someone who never apologized—or to forgive yourself—this episode is for you.

Tuesday Sep 30, 2025
Tuesday Sep 30, 2025
Friends,
In this episode, I’m joined by my husband, Steve, as we explore the anatomy of a grudge—how it starts, why it lingers, and the cost it demands of us emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
We speak candidly about:
- The subtle ways grudges shape our behavior
- The role of spiritual dryness in forgiveness
- Why unresolved pain often comes from the people closest to us
- How grace helps us release what’s been gripping us for too long
🕊️ If you’ve struggled to let go of bitterness, especially toward those in your own family, I invite you to stay with us through the end. You may find the strength to release what’s been holding you back.

S2E36: Time to Pause: Facing Collective Trauma Together
Tuesday Sep 23, 2025
Tuesday Sep 23, 2025
Friends,
In this episode, I ask listeners to take a moment to pause and reflect on the impact of political violence and how it shapes collective trauma. Drawing from personal experiences and historical events, I explore how trauma resonates across communities and generations, and consider the first steps toward healing. I reflect on my own experiences of political violence and how it triggers past wounds. I discuss how trauma manifests in our nervous system and daily lives. I ask listeners to take steps to pause, process, and hold space for difficult emotions and listen to the Gospel of Jesus Christ exhorting us to treat others as we want to be treated.

S2E35: Preemptive Apologies: Barriers to Trust and Forgiveness
Tuesday Sep 16, 2025
Tuesday Sep 16, 2025
Friends,
Have you ever noticed someone apologizing before doing something wrong, or right before criticizing someone else? This is called a preemptive apology. While it may seem polite or humble, it’s actually a subtle barrier to trust and a roadblock to true forgiveness.
Preemptive apologies create distance, erode integrity, and shift blame. By recognizing and avoiding them, we can build stronger relationships rooted in honesty, accountability, and real forgiveness.
Listen now to uncover how to move beyond preemptive apologies and embrace a path of genuine healing and reconciliation.
